What Do Boomers Want?
July 9, 2007 by jim
“When do you plan to take Social Security?” was a question one of my friends asked me at a part on Saturday. Preferably, never. Its a damn depressing quesiton, but difficult to avoid all together when your helping people celebrated 35th annversaries. Incredibly funny when you see yourself in the wedding party all those years ago.
The companion conversation that followed had to do with working after 62, 63, whatever. Most people wanted to take their pention or 401K payout and work part-time to delay taking Social Security until they were 66 or 67. They didn’t want to work full-time. They were thinking part-time.
As you might expect there was an exception. She was the woman who wanted to start an employement agency to help Boomers find the part-time work they craved. I’m sure that she will.
Highly un-scientific, but there you go.
