Use your brain or lose it: Take up the guitar

April 4, 2008 by Jean Murray

My 7 year old grand-daughter recently asked to learn to play the guitar. Her motivation? Hannah Montana, of course. But she seems to be doing well and enjoying it.

To exercise your brain, consider taking up the guitar. Guitar Boomer says learning to play the guitar will help you….

  • Exercise the brain
  • Fight memory loss
  • Reduce stress
  • Lower blood pressure· Stave off depression

What musical instrument would you like to learn how to play?

Hope she keeps it up. We need more female guitar players. Here’s a great one: http://www.guitarboomer.com/2008/02/sue-foley-blues-guitarist-you-need-to.html

Also, make sure she sees http://www.guitarwoman.com/

Gotta have role models and these women are some of the best guitarists out there.

VintageP – Thanks for the information, and in particular for the great “Guitar Woman” site. Hannah Montana is a flash in the pan, but these fine women musicians will be around for a long time to come.
