Plans can be highly detailed or simple. It all depends on the purpose. The most important part of the plan is a good description of the business situation.
The primary thing I am trying to do here is state the marketing opportunity. This explanation would normally have a definition of market size, an estimate of potential revenue, statements about the competition, etc. You can go out and get a half-dozen books that will describe such an approach. This undertaking is going to be simple. In that regard the plan should be uncomplicated.
In order to control my risk I will use as many of my own non-financial resorces. The trick will be to setup this enterprise and run it on a shoe string.
The Situation
- People are living longer now and will live even longer in the future.
- Many people want to work longer than previous generations.
- Most people want to live a healthy longer life that is high quality and active.
- As they age the Baby Boom generation is very interested in these quality of life issues.
- Many Baby Boomers want to be vigoroursly involved in the workings of our general society for years to come.
- Given the demographics of the country they may have to stay strongly involved in the workings of our society.
- Nevertheless the Baby Boom generation is suffering from the effects of aging. Among these are increased muscular-skeletal pains which are debilitating and lead to reduced vitality, health and participation in general society.
- Yoga exercise has been shown to reduce these types of pain and reduce the adverse impacts on individuals and society.
- Men view yoga as a activity for women.
- Many attempts have been made to attract men to yoga, but these have not been particularly successful.
- Most of these approaches have been written articles in magazines.
- There are hundreds of Yoga sites on the internet. Almost none of them are skewed to attract and interest men.
- One of the sites which might have been a competitor is not available, but retains the url.
- Yoga is not a magic bullet, but a practice that will improve an individual’s health as they use it over time.
- In order to maintain a substantial interest in the practice of yoga they need to value the instructions they receive.
- In the US people value things when they pay for them.
