The Start-Up Diary - Time Crunch
Tempus fugit, time disappears is one of the oldest sayings in the world. Remember this was way before the Internet. Its 10 after 9 this morning. I’ve been up since 6:30 and I’ve just finished my prep work for the day; read the local newspaper and the WSJ, breakfast, wash dishes, shower, shave, read my e-mail, feed the cats (actually that’s first) and a half hour of yoga. Writing this now is the first product I’ve completed this morning. The number of things I need to do crowd in on me as the time ticks bye.
Besides this blog I have 11 more things I need to work on today. I’m revising one novel, writing another, writing for my start-up web site, preparing lesson plans for the DVDs to be sold on the web site, reviewing a web site for a friend and potential part-time employer, I need to get my car in for servicing, and, oh yes, the litter-box needs cleaning.
Its a full day and not enough of it spent on any one task. Good news, I settled on a shooting schedule for the web site and the DVDs to be sold there on. Shoot on Monday and Wednesdays from 4 to 6. Edit on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We actually shot some yesterday. Progress, but not as fast I would like.
That brings me back to why we plan. There are dates associated with the goals and action items in my plan. I put them there so that I can have a target to shoot at. I may miss, but without the “stick in the ground” I really don’t know how I’m doing. If I miss a date I need to reevaluate and set new dates other time gets away and I haven’t got anything done.
Time to clean the litter-box.
