Small Business Boomers

I recently wrote a post for Blisstree’s Arts and Crafts section, Please…Don’t Photograph My Crafts (without permission) and how difficult it is now to control it in today’s electronic world. 

 This plea also applies to parents and grandparents, who are concerned about strangers photographing their children/grandchildren and even posting the youngsters’ photos on the Internet.  Also, parents/grandparents often don’t realize the possible ramifications, now and later, when they post photos of their kids where the general public can view them.  Most don’t post simply a school photo type pic (and the school photos are copyrighted so need permission, too).  They post all types …read more

In addition to being grandparents caring for grandchildren, boomers might be caring for parents, too.  Sometimes they’re the sandwiched generation, caught between generations…parents, children and grandchildren.
At one time I cared for aging parents, a mom and aunt (her sister) with Alzheimer’s, and an uncle who couldn’t get out and about too well.  They also lived at a distance.  Eventually, as most passed away, we moved my mom to our house and eventually to a nursing home.

Someone asked me this question today.  With Mother’s Day just behind us and Father’s Day coming up, it’s a good time to think about this question.
Do we owe our parents anything for having raised us, given us values, taught us to mind our manners and be respectful?  What if we were raised in an abusive family?
Do we feel our children owe us anything?
I’d like to know what you think.
