Etsy.com, Small Biz & More

Many small businesses consist of some type of handcraft and those on Etsy.com all have a connection with crafts.  Here’s a place for small and home businesses, as well as the hobbyist, to promote and sell their wares.
Some may start out here and, like Keara Sexton, develop a small business, OAK,  on Newbury Street in Boston.  Although Keara isn’t a boomer, you can learn from her.  Her mom, Karen, a small business owner, in Nashua, NH, helped Keara start her business, and now is learning from her daughter about social media and marketing in a techie world.
To learn more about Keara and Karen’s …read more

Boomer Creativity Contest Winner and Some of the Comments

The winner in a minute, but first, my observations:
I was overwhelmed by the number of people who have great creative ideas and a desire to express those ideas.
For example: When I got divorced, my ex burned all of my poetry (along with other things). I am just now getting the creativity flowing again. This would help me gain that once again.
I have about a dozen suspense novels and a great screenplay rattling around in my brain…..I’m always being told that I “should write a book”……perhaps I should!!
(I know the feeling – I have a fiction book and …read more

October Baby Boomer Contest – How to Create

In one of my journeys around the Internet I found a writer named Brenda Ueland.  She was born in 1891, died in 1985, lived in Minnesota, was married 4 times, and wrote a wonderful book titled:
If you want to write: A book about art, independence, and spirit

“I have established that you should work from now on until you die, with real love and imagination and intelligence, …read more

More on George Carlin…on creativity, being an observer, lots more

I found what is probably the last interview done with George Carlin, for Psychology Today.  In the article, he talks about the creative process, how he feels like an observer of the human species but not really human himself, how he feels about foul language, and other fascinating subjects.  It’s worth reading in full.
