This week, consider joining a board of directors to make a difference in your community.  Board members are individuals who (1) have the time and interest in a non-profit organization to attend meetings and (2) have experience they can offer to the non-profit. Today is Theme Day on B5media’s Business Channel and the the is “Experience – Does it matter?”  Well, of course it does, and Baby Boomers are the most experienced people in the business world today.  In my post earlier today, I suggested you get out there and find ne, interesting, challenging ways to  use your experience.  Here are some suggestions:
1.  Write about it.  Many boomers are writing books describing their experiences in business.  Or write an e-book and sell it online.  Or write that “Great American Novel” like Stephen King.

Boomer teachers retiring — should their replacements get $100,000?

In response to my recent “rant” about the state of writing, several commenters stated their opinions that teacher pay should be raised.
My first reaction to this statement was negative. I have never seen that throwing money at a problem caused the problem to improve.  But after I checked on Miranda’s suggested news story, I had different thoughts.  The story is about the efforts of the school district administrator in Washington, D.C., to raise give teachers merit pay, and tie their merit increases to increases in student achievement.
