Baby Boomer Women – Stay Active to “Stay Smart” and Multitask

My best friend just got back from China.  She walked the Great Wall, up many steps, and she was able to keep up when other younger people weren’t.  She has a regular vigorous walking routine, she lifts weights, swims with a Master’s group, and does yoga.  She is in great shape! And new information shows that being in shape physically can help keep you mentally fit too.
A recent study funded by the National Institutes of Health (and published in September in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society) shows that older women who are active do better on cognitive (knowledge) …read more

Who is “Caribou Barbie”? Baby Boomer Sarah Palin, of course

As I watched Governor Sarah Palin give her speech Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention, I was reminded of the Samuel Johnson quote about women preachers:
“… a woman’s preaching is like a dog’s walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”
I’m surprised that anyone is surprised that a woman can give a “pit bull” speech.  Why not?  There are some, both women and men, who don’t like Sarah Palin, hence the “caribou barbie” moniker, and worse.
I for one am thrilled that there are two top-level women in …read more

“Not Just the Kitchen” – a New Website for Baby Boomer Women

Natasha commented recently on my post on a website for baby boomer women. She had a better website, called “Not Just the Kitchen,” which is free. So of course I had to check it out.
They have 3 areas: Family/Relationships, Health and Beauty, and Money and Finance. This website is part of a women’s network which includes another blog called “Divine Caroline” (subtitled “Life In Your Words”). Apparently, it’s a communication medium for women.
Check out Not Just the Kitchen and let me know what you think. Should I add it to …read more

Attention all you baby boomer women: April 18-20 is YOUR weekend on Daytona Beach. The Daytona 500 is over, and Bike Week 2008 is jut a memory….
The weekend is advertised as a “Girlfriends Getaway” and it looks like they have quite a lineup of women talking about subjects from menopause to fitness and health to doing business on the Internet. Check out their website:
http://www.enjoyyourmenopause.com/ (Don’t look at me; I didn’t make up the name.)

A website for Baby Boomer women

A website for Baby Boomer women

I recently discovered the National Association of Baby Boomer Women and wanted to let you know about it. It is a membership site, and I haven’t joined yet.
They have online seminars and articles about subjects like finances, health, and dealing with Baby Boomer men. I particularly want to read the article about “Irritable Male Syndrome”
I’d be interested to know if you join and what you think.
