September 11, 2001 – Will we ever forget?

sept11attack_nc.jpgJust as I remember in detail where I was and what I was doing when I heard about the shooting and death of President Kennedy, I vividly recall much of what I saw, heard, and felt on September 11, 2001.

I often wonder if there is anyone in the U.S.A. who doesn’t remember.  To help us remember, there is a September 11 Digital Archive Project which contains many photos, emails, videos, and stories from people about that day.   The photos and stories are very moving.  There are also several special collections, including one from residents of NYC’s Chinatown, near the Twin Towers.  Maybe you want to spend some time browsing today.

Two books that I have found interesting about September 11 and its aftermath:

American Ground by William Langewiesche tells the story of the “unbuilding” of the Twin Towers in the days and months after 9/11.  Langewiesche was given unrestricted access to the area and describes the process in detail.

What are you doing to commemorate this day?
