Obama? McCain? It Doesn’t Really Matter For Small Businesses
I’m beginning to think we have wasted our time and money on this election whoo-ha, over the past two years. I don’t think it will really matter for those of us in small businesses, over the next four years. Here is why:
1. The Economy. With the current economic situation, and the $10 TRILLION budget deficit, what president is going to be so foolhardy as to put us further in debt with spending programs. We need cutbacks, across the board. As Thomas Jefferson said, we need a “government that governs least,” not one that governs more. So what does that leave our next president to do?
2. The Congress. Congress will most likely be overwhelmingly Democratic. So if McCain gets elected, he will have to fight Congress for any changes he wants to make. If Obama gets elected, he might have a better time, but he’s a “newbie,” so Biden will have to be the negotiator, and it will take a while before the Obama administration figures things out.
3. Taxes and Regulation. Someone has to pay for this mess, and it’s likely going to be businesses. Both McCain and Obama will probably not help small businesses (according to a recent MSNBC article: Small Business Owner’s Guide to the Election)
I feel a little like Alfred E. Neuman (remember him?) “What? Me Worry?” No sense worrying. Whoever gets elected will be ineffective in helping small businesses.
