I LOVE my business!
I heard someone say this in a conversation recently, and I thought, “That’s great!” How many people can say that they LOVE their business? And what does it mean to love your business?
First, it means that you wake up every morning excited about what you are going to be doing that day – the people you are going to be talking to, the work you are going to do, the progress you are going on make toward your business goals.
Second, it means that you enjoy working alongside other people who are also excited about your business. That doesn’t necessarily mean that these people are your employees. In my business, they are my virtual assistant, who is always willing to work on new projects, and my webmaster, who emails me to volunteer information to help me with an idea or tell me she has improved one of my web sites, or my coach, who says, “What fun things did you do this week?”
Third, it means you are free of worries about money. Maybe that should be first, because if you’re always worried about making the next payroll or having enough cash flow to pay your bills, you can’t really say you LOVE your business. At least, it dimishes the joy.
Writing this, I realize I can truly say I LOVE my business. I have lots of fun projects (books) to work on, positive and supportive people around me, and (for the moment) enough money to pay my bills.
What about you? Do you love your business? If not, what would it take for you to make that statement? If you don’t love your business, why not? What can you do about it? Feel free to jump in….
