How are you keeping your mind sharp?

April 10, 2008 by Jean Murray

Now that we’ve discussed yoga to keep your body in tune, what are you doing to keep your mind sharp? As I discussed in previous posts, the ‘use it or lose it’ philosophy is absolutely true.

Amy Sherman, LMHC, writes about maintaining cognitive (brain) function. She says many baby boomers are learning languages, taking on new hobbies (like quilting, in my case, or playing the guitar), and participating in “thought-provoking discussions.” I took the “brain speed test” and the “word recall test” at Posit Science, and scored pretty well, for someone over 60. Must be all that computer time and blogging. If you try these, let me know what you think.

So what are you doing to keep your brain active?

  1. Thanks, Jean, for linking to Quilting and Patchwork and mentioning quilting as a way for Boomers to keep their minds active and sharp. They also can relax and have fun doing this!
