How about a boomer job fair?

April 16, 2008 by Jean Murray

Get your friends together and sponsor a “Baby Boomer Job Fair” – use the one in Golden, Colorado as inspiration.  This is the second year for the “BOOM-A-FAIR” – it is being held April 22 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.  I wonder what kinds of jobs are available  – I hope “Wal-Mart Greeter” isn’t one of them.

What kind of job would you look for at a Boomer Job Fair?

I don’t believe that we could even get the fuse lit for a Boom-A-Fair. We would end up “all dressed up and no place to go”.

I’ve been looking for suitable employment for 8 years (BSEE w/ MBA). The best I’ve been able to do was retail sales.

Employers don’t want us! It’s plain to see. Just go out and seriously look for a real job. We that have, all know the litany of “excuses”.
