Giving to Charity – “Help Me Decide” Contest

My CPA says I need to make some charitable donations before the end of the year. I have a few favorites I donate to, but I would like to “spread the wealth” (so to speak) and find one or more new charities. So I’m asking for your help.

Salvation Army Bell Ringers Collect Funds For Charity

This contest is non-traditional, because I am not giving a prize to you, but to the charity you choose. Here are the rules:

1. Send me a response to THIS POST no later than 11:59 p.m. December 28.
2. Include the name of a charity you would like me to give to. The charity must meet the following criteria:

3. Your post must include your email address and your reason for suggesting that I donate. Why do you think this charity is important? No email address, no reason, no donation.

4. I will use my Random Number Generator to choose at least two charities to donate to, and I’ll send each of them at least $20. I’ll let you know by email if your charity has been chosen.

5. Duplicate entries are allowed, but I won’t give to your charity more than once.

So, it’s the Season for Giving. Help me decide what charity to give to.

I would donate to breast cancer research because we need to find a cure. Another charity is planned parenthood because they help so many families.

I would like to give to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) because the need to help pets suffering by the hand of ignorance is great. My email address is cmgnbox-01 at ymail dot com. Thanks for the giveaway!

Both of the charities I would choose because they help others. One helps Adults in crisis and the other helps children in crisis.

    St. Jude Childrens Hospital

My favorite of the day is La Leche League. This organization has helped thousands of women to nurture their babies not only through breast milk, but also provides support for positive parenting through meetings.

My vote is for Habitat for Humanity in the Greater New Orleans area They have been fantastic to the people of the New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina and are still helping thousands daily. They were here helping way before our own government could get their act together and send help. I could go on and on about how wonderful they are but the bottom line is that they are here, helping families daily and that’s all that matters.
    Thank you.

The American Friends Service Committee works for peace all over the world – that includes building infrastructure, providing animals to farmers, and holding conflict-resolution classes for gang members.

I’d give to Adopt-A-Classroom. It helps teachers in getting much needed resources into the classroom. The needed resources are important for a good education.

My Choice would be USO. As a post boomer who not only works with returning military, but also as a parent with boomer children who have served in the military, I know the value that the USO provides.

I would pick Soldiers Angels and the Paralyzed Veterans. My son did 3 tours in Iraq. He came back safe and sound. These organizations provide for severely injured veterans from this war. Soldiers Angels provided voice activated laptop computers for those missing limbs to help them. They provide Kevlar blankets which also prevent the catastrophic injuries from Improvised explosive devices.
