Generation Jones?

November 28, 2007 by Jean Murray

I was Stumbling around and found a site called BoomJ which bills itself as a “Lifestyle” site for Baby Boomers and Generation Jones. Generation Jones? I had never heard of it. So of course I had to check it out.

Wikipedia says Generation Jones describes people in the second half of the Baby Boom generation. According to marketing demographic experts, the Baby Boom generation includes people born from the mid 1950s to the mid 1960’s.  The connotation is that they are a “lost” generation somewhere between the Boomers and the Gen X’ers.   Don’t you just love those marketing people?  The folks at the Generation Jones website (www.generationjones.com, of course) say that this generation is the anonymous generation but that its 53 million members constitute 1 out of 4 U.S. adults.

I’m not sure why the distinction.  I too remember George of the Jungle, Top Cat, Buffy and Jody on Family Affair, and I was watching the Jets-Raiders game in 1968 when it was pre-empted by  Heidi.  Oh, well, I guess we all have to belong.

What do you think?
