What a Blessing that we had so many wonderful people to help as a team in all of our flooded areas 2008 Vinton Iowa for one touched my heart deeply that I was so surpised that my family reunion still went on at the Vinton City Park right after the flood when I Called my Cousin Ruth I was ready to hear Peg no we aren’t having the family reunion
The wonderful Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School that so many of us that went there was so happy that the Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School was open to help the flooded victims of Vinton,IA
thanks to all of the people that come together as Vinton Ia as always did The 8 Years I lived there while attending the Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School Vinton,IA I will never forget how one town treats all as a big family
thanks Vinton for all of your Love you give many of us

Jean glad to here your concern, I grew up in vinton and vistited a few weeks ago just after the flood. All is going well. I would like to comment on your directions though. the building on the right in the photo is not the chinese rest. but HACAP and congreget meals. the rest you speak of is to the left and not actually in that pic.

The picture in the lower right is the Congregate Meals HACAP building. The very good chinese restaurant is just out of the photo on the left.

just wanted to let you know that your info is incorrect. that is not the chinese restuarant it is hacap. the chinese rest is not in the picture. it is a block to the left from what is shown in the middle of the block. this is one of the best pics i have seen.

On Tuesday June 10th, 18 young people arrived in Vinton, Iowa to start their training to be AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team leaders. This is the first class for this new NCCC campus at the Iowa School for the Braille and Sight Saving. Now these young people are helping manage a shelter for the local citizens. What a baptism under fire for these young people.
