Extra Energy
Starting a business, even a small one, is energy intensive. The enthusiasm and commitment of the entrepreneurs can be exhilarating. Those things can go a long way toward helping people over the difficult times each business will encounter. But, they don’t last forever.
Where can you find the extra energy and motivation to handle the demands of business leadership?
- Maintain your physical health.
- Make sure your immediate family does the same.
- Exercise regularly.
- Eate properly.
- Don’t hold a grudge.
What was that last one? Don’t hold a grudge. It’s an important concept. Things like anger and seeking revenge for perceived wrongs will suck the energy right out of you. Let the things that might make you angry roll off your back and devote your energies to more positive endeavors.
Sounds religious, doesn’t it. Yes, all major religions talk about forgiving and loving our neighbors. Here’s the twist. The acts of forgiving someone free you more than they do the one you forgive. If you truly let your anger toward another completely go you will be shocked at how much weight is lifted from you shoulders.
Try it the next time you are angry at a co-worker or competitor. Really let the anger go. The extra energy you get will surprise you. I was when it happened to me the first time.
