Expand Your Business - My Comments
As I stated in the Expand Your Business - Business Plan Part 5 post, I woke up yesterday with another idea for a business. The idea is incredibly plausible and I know that I could start and run a successful business with the idea, however I am in process on my current business. I have a lot of work to do to get it close to what I see it could be as far as successful, specifically profitable.
Anyway, I stumbled on this article from Ezine Articles called Expanding A Business - Write A Plan and I thought, it would be a great way to round out my series of articles on writing a Business Plan.
Here are the Lessons I want you to take from the article:
1. Write the Business Plan - That has been my point in writing this series.
2. Begin with the end in mind - Sounds a lot like one of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey.
3. Your Business Plan will be a VERY important document for creating a road map for your success.
4. Vision your business - Big Picture is very important. Can you see it? Or are you only looking at one aspect of the business?
5. Your Executive Summary is critical to your funding. Do you need money to get this business off the ground? WRITE THE BUSINESS PLAN!
Baby Boomers are one of the largest groups of people starting new small business or buying businesses. Many of you (us) have years and years of work experience and life experience that will support your (our) lofty ambitions to successfully run your (our) own business. But I challenge you to stop for one moment and assess your progress. Do you have some areas you want to improve in your business? Are you looking to grow your overall business? What has gotten in your way? Do you have a solid plan? If your business needs a kick start or a fresh approach, take a minute and write your business plan.

Hi Darlene,
I am currently working with Gary Harpst, CEO and founder of Six Disciplines, LLC, a company that helps small and mid-sized businesses achieve new levels of excellence by blending communications, training, consulting, technology and the Internet. Harpst recently released a new book titled Six Disciplines for Excellence: Building Small Businesses that Learn, Lead and Last . The book reveals the six fundamental business disciplines specifically designed to help businesses move beyond momentary success to sustainable business excellence.
Six Disciplines for Excellence also reveals how to:
• Improve functionality, morale and all-around profitability among employees
• Help employees execute more consistently toward achieving company’s goals
• Align employees daily activities to the organization’s goals
• Eliminate barriers that prevent businesses from effectively executing their strategy
I thought you might be interested in reviewing Six Disciplines for Excellence: Building Small Businesses that Learn, Lead and Last or blogging about Harpst’s unique leadership/management style. I have included a press release containing more information below. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional materials, such as a press kit, artwork or copy of Six Disciplines.

Hi Christine,
I would love to do a book review. Please forward all of your information to me: darlingmcdaniel@gmail.com. I would like to review the book and then I will let you know what I think. It sounds interesting. Maybe we could give a book away on the site. Your thoughts?
