Boomers, Are Your Grandchildren Being Informed or Indoctrinated?
Controversy has arisen concerning President Obama’s speech nationwide to school children on Tuesday, September 8. Much concern also has been expressed about the lesson plans and suggested classroom discussion and activities.
Is this event solely to encourage youngsters to take their education seriously? Or is there an underlying motive to indoctrinate America’s young people? There are strong feelings on either side and in the middle. Some people wonder why this speech wasn’t scheduled for evening, when parents could watch the program with their youngsters and discuss it with them. Why was it targeted for school children in classroom situations?
I found that my post, in the Parenting section of Blisstree, titled Obama – Education or Mind Control of Youth, has evoked response. It is good to get people thinking about these matters and to become informed so they can make reasonable decisions.
What do you as grandparents, who often are caring for grandchidren, either with or without their parents as you operate your businesses, think? You may be in the position where you have to make decisions such as these about your grandchildren and their education.
Situations such as this do get parents and grandparents more involved in their youngsters’ education and initiate discussions with them.
