Big Deal

by jim on August 1st, 2007

Everything chnages.  The Wall Street Journal will become part of News Corp.  This is a very big deal for everyone in business and, dare I say, journalism.  WSJ is the standard for factual and complete reporting in the business world.  On top of that, their stories are written well.  To date it has always been a pleasure to read.

One of the things I find so impressive with articles in the WSJ is that they give you all the facts.  Because a writer cannot say everything at once he or she, along with an editor or two, must choose what they feel are the most important and state those facts first.  The facts chosen to be presented first give the article its slant or premise.  If you choose to read the complete story you will find facts that support the opening premise of each article and those that might contradict it.  A diligent reader will find all the facts necessary to make their own decisions about the situation presented in the article.

Needless to say, I would hope that the WSJ continues with its high standards and commitment to the complete story.
