Baby Boomers Need To Be Life Long Learners
Everyone, underline everyone, needs to be a life long learner. You and I must always be ready to get back to school to learn new skills. You get to define “school.” The Economy requires it.
As Baby Boomers we need to be productive parts of the US economy for longer than our partents or any other preceeding group. People seeking early retirement need to get back in the game. You don’t get to ride the bench. If you are smart and made you pile of money then you have a responsibility to society, the country and yourself to keep producing. Here’s a tip. Being a sage on the sidelines is not producing anything, but hot air.
If you want to do something different from what you did before, that’s fine, but you probably need to pick up some new skills to do that. Maybe you can back to a tech school or take a few courses in college to hone your skills.
Going back to school means that you will have to make investments in money and time. The most significant are the most substantial. If you’re afraid you’ll die or your health will give out before you get a payback on your investment, get over it. No garuntees are offered. Never were.
So, over fifty and back to school? You bet. I did it. Over sixty. Sure, why not? Over Seventy. Do you want to sit in a rocking chair and rot.
I grant you that a formal instution of education is not the only place to learn new and useful things, but schools have taken the time to organize specific knowledge. Generally, they are a good place to get the basics, but there are others. After that you are on your own.
Don’t think about it. Do it.
