The B5Media network:

50 Things to do at 50-something … Part I

My goal for the month of June is to give you lots of things to think about. What are you doing to improve the quality of your life during the second half?

In other words, if “60 is the new 40,” then 50 must be the new 30.  If you were born in 1960, for example, your average life expectancy is

69.7 years for both sexes, 66.6 years for men, and 73.1 years for women.  And what are you waiting for?

Today, I’m starting a series: 50 things to do at 50-something.  I hope it will encourage you to think out of the box and get going on the life you want.  Also, stay tuned for a “50-something ideas” contest, to be announced later this week.

50 Things To Do t 50-something:

1.  Start a business
2.  Take a walk every day
3.  Buy a dog or cat
4.  Take the dog along on your walk
5.  Learn to cook a new kind of food
6.  Learn a new language (or re-learn that one you learned in high school…yes, even Latin)
7.  Subscribe to a hobby magazine
8.  Tell someone you love them  or appreciate them.  Every day.
9.  Pick up pennies.  You know, the ones you find in pockets, on the ground.  You’d be surprised how fast they add up.
10.  Organize your desk, and keep it organized.  Nah – forget that one.  I really believe that life is too short to organize too much.
10.  Go to the office supply store and find something fun to use that costs less then $5.

Whew! That’s enough for today.  More tomorrow….
