5 Reasons Boomers Develop Businesses
Many boomers these days are developing home and small businesses instead of retiring and rocking on the front porch. Their reasons are various.
1. They need to supplement their income. Retirement is non-existent or doesn’t stretch far enough in today’s economy.
2. They want to try something new in their life. Why not make some money from it, too?
3. They want to turn a hobby into a business venture just for fun or to earn income. It also might be a challenge just to see if they can do it.
4. They’re helping a child or grandchild and find this a way the whole family can do something together.
5. They want to do something to help others and the world, especially if they’re developing a “green” business.
What are/were your reasons for developing a business?

Boomers develop business also because they do not want to feel that they are useless to their family and society, and boomers are good entrepreneurs because they are mature and have lots of experience in life.
Thanks, Jeny, for visiting Small Business Boomers and adding to the discussion. This is excellent insight and something I will mention in a future post.

You are very much welcome Mary Emma! I like your site and your articles. There aren’t many web sites that talks about boomers particularly how they can still be an asset in the business area. Yours are very helpful, full of information and not boring to read. Keep it up!
Boomers are tested by time. Some of them may not know much about the high-tech gadgets but i think that they can still do a lot. They can still manage a business and make it grow.
