Jim is right in his post yesterday. Many of us Baby Boomers have experienced age discrimination. Age discrimination is a harsh reality for those of us who are over 40. So what do we do about it?
The problem is that’s subtle. You will never hear someone say, “We can’/won’t hire you because you’re too old.” […]

I write the occasional for the local newspaper, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, so I tend to read the paper. Today there was another letter about job discrimination against those over 45. It’s real it happens all the time. I have a neighbor who is a head hunter and he told me outright that employers tell […]

Those of us in Iowa, and elsewhere in the Midwest, have had a long, cold, snowy winter. I feel like I am just coming out of hibernation. I got my car washed, got the winter grime off, and I went to work for the first time in months without a coat. […]

Really! I was in bed, about 4:40 a.m. It felt like I was in one of those vibrator beds. It lasted about 30 seconds. I knew what it was instantly.
I’m in Davenport, Iowa, along the Mississippi, quite a way from the epicenter in West Salem, Illinois.
Did you feel it? What did you think?

The Business Channel bloggers are scrambling, as in writing posts for each other’s blogs. As I was writing a post about Home Office Deductions for HomeBizNotes, Miki Saxon of LeadershipTurn agreed to write a guest post for us:

The death of Charles Heston was a sad day. Many of us Baby Boomers remember his great acting in movies like The Ten Commandments.
Mary Emma Allen includes some video interviews with Mr. Heston and his wife in her Alzheimer’s Notes blog.
In the video he says, “I can part the Red Sea but I can’t […]

When my daughter, who is now 26, was 17, my wife took her to work with her. She actually hired her to be a class room assistant during a summer program for 1st through 3rd graders. It was a morning program for reading. My daughter quit after the first week. Her main complaint was that […]

I have been reading about a new book titled Illusions of Entrepreneurship, from Yale University Press (as a matter of fact, I ordered a copy). In my reading, I ran across a quiz about entrepreneurship. You really should take this quiz. It has answers to questions such as:
Who is likelier to start a new business […]

Recently I have seen a number of TV shows and articles concerning physical fitness and longevity of Boomers and the retired. I’ve been thinking that it is all very good to live longer and be healthier during that time, but to what purpose? My chances to live a healthy life well into my 90’s is […]
